Do I really NEED to tip my vendors?

To be blunt, your vendors provide a service.

They bust booty to provide that service.

In Hawaii, they go broke to have a business to bust booty to provide that service. They go above and beyond, often putting themselves at risk to create something fabulous for you, because they are passionate about and take pride in what they do. Most do not include any gratuity in their fees and leave that to you. Not because they would not like to receive anything, but because it is not expected nor forced. That is not why we do what we do.

So, do you NEED to? No. Should you? Yup.

Everyone is more uplifted when receiving a small token of appreciation.

Think about when you dine at a restaurant. My tip starts at 20% for my server. When they suck, I make a statement by decreasing that percentage. When they are fabulous, I give them more than the 20% to make a statement. Do you see the theme here? I am making a statement about the service by the amount I leave for the professionals making and serving my food and beverages.

Your tip or non-tip makes a statement. At the very least, show your appreciation with a thank you card and a review or testimonial. These small meaningful gestures go a long way with your vendors. Your thoughtfulness will mean the world to them.

So, HOW MUCH should you tip?
